So today I bought a scale. I got the Detecto D220 for $40.
It was the nicest one that I could find at Target. :) But now I cant even find it on amazon or target.com so, I'll post a picture.
I weighed myself at noon. (Going forward I suspect I'll weigh myself right after I wake up, and hopefully that will account for my discouraging readings today.) On the plus side, I feel a lot more awake and alert today, which I think I can attribute to eating a little better and working out. Unless this new-found energy was because I expected to drop 2 lbs, not gain 4 lbs, and now that I saw I gained weight, I will lose my energy?
I set the scale up for a 23 year old, 5'4", female.
179.0 lbs.
35.7% Body Fat
47% Water weight
30.9% Muscle Mass
I honestly didn't know what body fat, water weight, and muscle mass would be considered normal so I googled it! I see that my 35.7% puts me in the obese category (lovely). I read here that "Women should have a body fat percentage somewhere between 20 and 21 percent"
I also read here that most people contain 50-60% of water weight. It says: "...a lean woman may have a percentage closer to 50 percent." So I guess 47% water weight is normal.
I also read here that: "According to the Broca's index, at 5 feet, 4 inches tall, women should
weigh 120 lbs. A more recent equation known as the Devine formula
utilizes the same concept, except with kilograms. The ideal body weight
according to this formula is equal to 54.7 kg or 120.59 lbs."
All I could find about muscle mass is how it is really hard to determine and is really a person-to-person based thing that factors in height, age, body type, body fat, and levels of activity.
Alright, so I have a long way to go!
In other news, I went grocery shopping today. Here's what I got! The only things I forgot to put in the picture were 2 Lean Cuisine meals and 2 gallons of purified water.
I'm planning on using the:
** peppers and onion and bean dip with the whole wheat tortilla for a burrito.
** honey, apple cider vinegar, and pineapple juice to make the Bombshell Spell from these inspirations.
** grapes to freeze and snack on
** celery to snack on
** grapefruit, apples, oranges, kiwi for breakfast
** eggs, onion and pepper (ill only use the whites of the eggs)
** cereal and skim milk
** low carb oatmeal
** Skinny Girl White Peach Margarita!!! I'm a girl that likes my dark beers so this will be a transition.
** Avocado, onion, and tomato to make guacamole on Sunday for the Superbowl!
** a thinkThin bar and an IronGirl bar. :)
Total cost of groceries? $70.
I also re-instated my gym membership. $62/month.
